Sarawak polls: BN takes 26 seats, DAP 4, PKR 3


KUCHING: Barisan Nasional has so far won 26 seats with DAP winning four and PKR three as official and unofficial results flowed in.

Barisan has won Sadong Jaya via PBB incumbent Aidel Lariwoo, who won in a four-cornered fight with his three opponents losing their deposits.

The Muara Tuang state seat has officially been won by Barisan-PBB candidate Datuk Idris Buang against Amanah and PAS candidates, both of whom lost their deposits.

Barisan’s Mohamad Ali Mahmud has achieved a landslide victory in the new state seat of Stakan, beating Leslie Ting by a majority of 7,042 seats.

In Tebedu, Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong of Barisan-PBB has defeated PKR’s Alex Saben Nipong with a 6,357 vote-majority.

Meanwhile, Tarat has been won by Barisan-PBB candidate Datuk Roland Sagah, who defended the seat against PKR’s Musa Ngog by a 5,421 majority.

DAP incumbent Alan Ling has unofficially lost the Piasau seat to Barisan’s Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.

The Senadin seat has been retained by Barisan-SUPP incumbent Datuk Lee Kim Shin in a three-cornered fight with DAP and PBDS Baru.

In Balai Ringin, Snowdan Lawan of Barisan-PRS won by 4,478 votes against his closest challenger, independent candidate Entusa Imam, who had 2,439 votes.

PKR has officially won Krian, with their incumbent Ali Biju retaining the seat against Barisan’s Kilat Beriak.

DAP’s Violet Wong has defeated SUPP newcomer Milton Foo in Pending, with a reduced majority of 5,012 votes. Wong won the seat in 2011 by a 7,595 vote-majority.

Barisan-direct candidate Datuk Dr Jerip Susil won the Mambong seat with a split in Opposition votes between PKR’s Willie Mongin and DAP’s Sanjan Daik.

In Tasik Biru, Datuk Henry Jinep has led Barisan to victory against Mordi Bimol of DAP.

Barisan has won Ngemah through PRS’ Alexander Vincent, who narrowly beat Richard Lias (DAP), Thomas Laja Besi (PKR) and independent Joseph Jawa Kendawang by 154 votes.

Barisan won the Serembu seat with Miro Simuh emerging victorious in a four-corner battle with PKR, STAR and an independent.

The new seat of Bukit Semuja has witnessed a Barisan victory with direct candidate John Ilus winning in a four-cornered fight.

PKR candidate for Batu Lintang, See Chee How, has defeated his opponents in a three-corner fight to clinch the seat after a ‘relaxed’ approach to his campaign.

In Padungan, DAP’s Wong King Wei has unofficially retained the seat with.

DAP incumbent David Wong has retained the Pelawan seat in a three-cornered fight.

In Telang Usan, Barisan’s Dennis Ngau has beaten Roland Engan.

Bukit Saban has already been won by Cabinet Minister Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah Embas, who defeated PKR’s Noel Changgai Bucking.

In neighbouring Mulu, Barisan direct candidate Datuk Gerawat Gala appears to have won in a four-corner fight.

In the seat of Murum, Barisan’s Chukpai Ugon of PRS has won in another four-cornered fight that includes DAP and PKR.

In Malay-Melanau majority seat of Dalat, Barisan’s Datuk Fatimah Abdullah beat PKR’s Sim Eng Hua in a straight fight.

Meanwhile, in Lingga, Simoi Peri of Barisan-PBB has won against PKR’s Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh and independent Wan Abdillah Edruce Wan Abdul Rahman.

Barisan direct candidate Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh has retained the Bawang Assan seat in a five-corner fight that includes STAR’s Wong Sing Wei, independent Watson Bangau Renang, Chew Sung Ngee of DAP as well as independent Yew Bang King.

In Pakan, Barisan direct candidate Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom has defeated independent Jawie Jingot and Rinda Juliza Alexander of DAP.

Barisan has also won the Pelagus and Saribas state seats, by Wilson Nyabong and Mohammad Razi Sitam respectively.

PKR has so far won one seat, with Baru Bian winning in Ba’kelalan against Barisan’s Willie Lau.

DAP has declared victory in Bukit Assek, with its candidate Irene Chang beating defeating candidates from STAR and SUPP.

Chang is the wife of the late former Sarawak DAP chief Wong Ho Leng, who previously held the seat in 2011 with a majority of 8,827 votes.

Barisan already won two uncontested seats on nomination day, with Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail winning Bukit Kota and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan winning  Bukit Sari.
