PETALING JAYA: In an urgent measure to check kidnappings by militants in international maritime waters along the Philippines side of the border, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines will conduct patrols in the Sulu-Sulawesi areas.
The three countries have also agreed to render immediate assistance to people and ships in distress within the common maritime areas and set up a national focal point to facilitate sharing of information and intelligence.
