KUCHING: Parti Amanah Negara is still hopeful that its allies PKR and DAP can iron out differences over seat allocation before polling day on May 7.
"I hope PKR and DAP can find the best solution to ensure straight fights against Barisan Nasional before election day," said Amanah chairman Mohamad Sabu in a statement Tuesday.
"I am also confident that they can achieve this in order for us to realise the wishes of the people of Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole," he said.
DAP and PKR have been at loggerheads over seat allocation, which resulted in clashes in six seats on nomination day.
DAP has accused PKR of not honouring its agreement not to field its candidates in the seats that PKR intends to contest.
The party said it gave up the Batu Kitang seat to PKR even though it has a better chance in winning it.
PKR insisted that certain seats were not finalised, so it went ahead and fielded candidates.
DAP said earlier on Tuesday that it would withdraw its Batu Kitang candidate if PKR agrees to withdraw five candidates from conflicting seats.
DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke said the only way out is for PKR to withdraw its candidates despite their names being on the ballot paper.
The conflicting seats are Batu Kitang, Mulu, Murung, Mambong, Simanggang and Ngemah.
