Transgender’s fight hailed

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian transgender rights advocate Nisha Ayub has been presented with the 2016 US Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award.

She is the first transgender woman to win the prestigious annual award which recognises women around the globe who have demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality and women’s empowerment.
