NGOs protest against Freemason meet in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: Nine non-governmental organisations (NGO) lodged police reports against the International Scottish Masonic Conference 2016 scheduled to be held in Penang from Feb 24 to 26.

They said the conference could cause uneasiness among Muslims in the state.

Penang Muslim Network chairman Mohamed Hafiz Mohd Nordin claimed the conference, to be held at a hotel in Batu Ferringhi by a organisation known as the Freemason, was linked to the Jews and conspiracy theories against Muslims.

"We want the authorities to investigate the conference as it could create anxiety among Muslims," he said after making a police report at the Northeast police headquarters here.

Northeast police chief ACP Mior Faridalatarash Wahid confirmed the reports. - Bernama
