They believe the man was drunk, from the way he spoke and because his breath smelled of alcohol. He was also bleeding from the nose.
PETALING JAYA: A busker has said that he assaulted a Nepalese man because the foreigner had molested his wife in front of him.
In a posting on the Genji Buskers Facebook page on Wednesday, Mustam Mustapa, who had just recently gotten married, said his wife was “hugged and molested” by the man while they were setting up for a performance in front of the Sogo shopping centre at 9pm on Tuesday.
In a rage, he attacked the man, who was believed to be drunk, who then fell unconscious.
“I was just carrying out my obligations as a husband. The next thing I knew, blood was dripping,” he said in the Facebook post.
The Facebook post has since been widely circulated on social media with over 58,000 likes and 54,000 shares.
In a video posting on the same day, Mustam also expressed his concern for the safety of his fellow Malaysians.
“This serves as a reminder to all Malaysians that it is no longer safe to walk around in Malaysia.
“Even though my wife wears a tudung, she fell victim to being grabbed and molested,” he said in front of the Dang Wangi police headquarters.
He said the Government should think more about the safety of the public.
“My wife was molested, but what were you (the authorities) doing?
“Think of the rakyat. We want to live,” he said.
Earlier, Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zainol Samah said auxiliary policemen, who were in the area, found the foreigner.
"They believe the man was drunk, from the way he spoke and because his breath smelled of alcohol. He was also bleeding from the nose."
A police report was filed a day after the incident.
