Custody decision based on interview with Deepa's children, says Federal Court

S. Deepa was given custody of her daughter but not her son. Nabil Abdullah's custody was given to the boy's father, Muslim convert Izwan Abdullah.

PETALING JAYA: The custody of S. Deepa’s eight-year-old son Nabil Abdullah was given to his Muslim convert father, based on an interview by the Justices of the Federal Court.

In a written judgment issued on Monday, Court of Appeal president Justice Md Raus Sharif, who chaired the five-man panel which heard the custody battle between Izwan Abdullah and his Hindu ex-wife, said that Nabil was capable of expressing an independent opinion and deciding which parent he wanted to live with.
