KOTA KINABALU: An early morning breakfast meeting turned fatal for a fisherman when he was killed by an unidentified man on Sunday.
It is believed that the victim, in his 20s, was having breakfast with two friends at a coffee shop in Sandakan when a man walked to their table and hit him on the head at about 4am.
The fisherman's two friends fled, leaving him at the scene.
Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Zabidi Md Zain said passers-by saw the victim lying lifeless by the roadside and reported to the police at about 4.45am.
“The victim was found with injuries to his head,” ACP Zabidi said.
He said police were still trying to identify the suspect and ascertain the motive of attack.
“Anyone with information are urged to come forward and assist,” ACP Zabidi said.
