Hundreds left homeless in fires at squatter colonies

KOTA KINABALU: Some 300 people were left homeless when their squatter houses were destroyed in an early morning blaze in Tawau.

The squatter colony fire at Jalan Apas, Kampung Buaya which started at about 4am was believed to have started from a wooden structure and it quickly spread to nearby units due to the close proximity.
