GEORGE TOWN: Every year without fail, Neoh Say Im would make offerings to send off the Kitchen God before Chinese New Year, a ritual she has been doing for more than 60 years.

The 76-year-old said she and her cousin Mano Cheang, 63, would usually offer thnee kuih (nian gao or kuih bakul), as well as mandarin oranges, joss paper, longans, red dates and sugar in carrying out this age-old tradition.
