KUCHING: Barely 12 hours after the chief minister’s “disclosure” of April 18 as nomination day and April 30 for polling, the Election Commission made it clear that it was the authority empowered to fix the dates for the Sarawak polls and no one else.
State EC director Datuk Takun Sunggah confirmed to The Star that Tan Sri Adenan Satem had proposed the two dates but he emphasised that the responsibility “to decide the dates is solely the prerogative of the EC”.
