PETALING JAYA: The fertility rate of the Chinese community has steadily declined from 2.6 per woman in 2000 to 1.4 in 2014, according to a report issued by the National Statistics Department.
The dwindling numbers are reflected in the enrolment in Chinese vernacular schools, with the number declining from 539,621 in 2010 to 483,852 in 2014.
