First wave of Kuantan flood victims evacuated

KUANTAN: The beginning of the flood season saw 39 villagers evacuated from the Sungai Soi area here, after day-long rains flooded their homes.

According to a Pahang Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, nine families were brought to the Sekolah Kebangsaan Kempadang flood relief centre, from the nearby residencies at Kempadang PPRT (homes for hardcore poor) and Berjaya Permai.
