Ministry aims for family-based option for displaced kids from 2017

KUALA LUMPUR: Amendments to the Child Act will see displaced children receiving family-based care instead of being sent to welfare institutions.

Deputy Women, Family and Community Develop­ment Minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said the ­ministry was aiming to move towards deinstitutionalisation of children.
