Amnesty International Malaysia said the Federal Court's ruling that the Sedition Act was constitutional was a negative development for Malaysia's "sad state" of human rights affairs.
"It is worth reminding that Malaysia subscribes to international law as a UN member, and has a responsibility of upholding its responsibilities to promote the freedom of expression," said its executive director Shamini Darshni, referring to a need to repeal the law.
