Global launch in Paris for Malaysian Fashion Week

PARIS: Malaysian Fashion Week (MFW) 2015 was officially launched at the annual international showcase of the Mercedes Benz Stylo Asia Fashion Week.

Organised by Matrade in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Stylo International, the event is set to run in Kuala Lumpur from Nov 4 to Nov 7.

The MFW 2015 Global launch on Saturday at Maison De L’Amerique Latine featured seven Malaysian names – Bon Zainal, Fairuz Ramdan, Iliza Ho, Porosus, Blaucher, Royal Selangor Pewter and Von Jolly Couture – and two well-known Asian designers Ali Charisma from Indonesia and Avel Bacudio of the Philippines.

Datuk Jimmy Choo, honorary adviser of MFW, was guest of honour.

Also present at the launch were Matrade chairman Datuk Noraini Ahmad, director-general of Mercedes-Benz Retail (France) Florian Muller, president and CEO of Mercedes Benz Malaysia Roland Folger and Datuk Nancy Yeoh, co-chairman of the MFW and chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Stylo Asia Fashion Week.

Muller said Mercedes-Benz was pleased to work with its Malaysian office in playing host to the global launch of MFW.

“Reinforcing our inexorable support of the fashion industry, we are pleased to bring together two fashion cities of the East and West through this fashion exchange,” he added.

Choo also announced the Datuk Professor Jimmy Choo Education Programme Award for emerging designers with the winner set to receive a two-week mentorship with Choo in London.

More than 60 top French buyers including Galeries Lafayette and Printemps were invited to the event.
