PETALING JAYA: The stigma surrounding mental illness in the country should be removed as it is preventing people from seeking help. Malaysian Mental Health Advisory Council member Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (pix) added that stigmatisation could be a factor that would derail any remedial effort.
“Some faced with (mental health) issues are not prepared to talk about it for fear that their friends and neighbours might know,’’ he said after launching Befrienders Kuala Lumpur’s public forum on suicide prevention yesterday.
