KOTA KINABALU: It will be more costly for vehicle owners to change their tyres here following a City Hall proposal to impose a surcharge for disposing of old tyres at the Kayu Madang landfill.

Sabah West Coast, Kudat and Interior Tyre Dealers Association president Candy Wong said the association was told by City Hall director-general Datuk Yeo Boon Hai at a recent meeting of the plan to charge tyre dealers RM250 per tonne for scrap tyres to be disposed of at the landfill, about 15km from here.
