Sept meeting to review search area for MH370

KUALA LUMPUR: The tripartite meeting involving Malaysia, Australia and China to review the search area for Malaysia Airlines, MH370 is expected to be held in early September.

Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister Datuk Jailani Johari said the issues for discussion included whether the search area should be narrowed down following the discovery of a flaperon off Reunion Island, which had been confirmed to be part of MH370.

“Following confirmation of the flaperon as part of the aircraft, the search area would be redetermined and discussed in the meeting,” Jailani said after launching a Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Veterans’ Association’s Hari Raya gathering.

MH370 went missing while enroute to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014.

Earlier, Jailani said the ministry had met more than 50 stakeholders in its plan to amend the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

He said the draft amendments were likely be tabled in parliament in October. — Bernama
