Pre-war shophouses damaged in Penang fire

GEORGE TOWN: Three units of pre-war heritage shophouses in Penang Street were damaged in a blaze.

The fire happened at around 9pm on Monday.

It is learnt that the shophouses of more than a century old belong to an owner who sells Indians ornaments, praying items and groceries.

Firemen from Beach Street fire station and several voluntary fire squads were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call from the public.
