Rule of coverture ancient and barbaric, Court of Appeal told

PUTRAJAYA:  A Court of Appeal has been told to be "courageous" in departing from a rule that makes the wife dependent on her husband for her domicile.

This was raised in an appeal by former beauty queen Pauline Chai Siew Phin (pic) who contended that she has the right to acquire her own status by domicile (permanent legal residence).
