Umno supreme council backs Najib, says Raja Nong Chik

KUALA LUMPUR: The Umno supreme council is committed to supporting and helping party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

"We are of the firm stand that we are totally behind the party president, and that we will help the president solve whatever issues that crop up, especially with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB)," said Umno supreme council member Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin.

Speaking after the Umno supreme council meeting on Monday afternoon, Raja Nong Chik said Najib was very forthright in welcoming the assistance of the entire council.

"The deputy president gave his full support to our president and all of us agreed to work together to help overcome the perception issues that have emerged as a result of 1MDB and now the Tabung Haji controversy," he added.

Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said that close cooperation between all supreme council members would strengthen Umno.

"We agree that there are several issues that have to be resolved, and the relationship between the president and deputy president is good.
