Four charged with sedition over Sabah, Sarawak separatist website

KOTA KINABALU: Four men were charged in the Sessions Court here Monday for possession of materials related to state rights in the federation.

Activists Azrie Situ, 25, Jemmy Liku Markus Situ, 32, Erick Jack William, 29, and Joseph Kolis, 29, pleaded not guilty before judge Dean Wayne Dally.

They were charged under Section 4(2) of the Sedition Act 1948.

The four were among nine people arrested at the Tuaran Tamu ground at about 9.50am on Feb 1 for possession of seditious material, which police said was linked to a web page, Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia.

The four, who were represented by counsel Arthur Chin, were released on a RM20,000 bail and a local surety each. They were also ordered to surrender their passports.

Among those present at the court house was former chief minister Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee, who had acted as their counsel initially.
