PUTRAJAYA: Police will continue to investigate cases charged under the Sedition Act 1948 eventhough several cases would be reviewed by the Attorney-General, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said the police were tasked to investigate and prepare the investigation papers while the power to prosecute under the Sedition Act was with the A-G Chambers.
"Investigations will proceed when we receive the police reports lodged (on sedition cases)," he told reporters after the ministry's monthly assembly.
On Tuesday, it was reported that the A-G's Chambers would be reviewing several cases of individuals charged under the Sedition Act, including that of Universiti Malaya law lecturer Dr Azmi Sharom.
A-G Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail had said that the decisions on the cases concerned would be finalised soon.
