TUMPAT: PAS is fielding businessman Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim against Barisan Nasional’s Mat Razi Mat Ail in what is likely to be a straight fight in the Pengkalan Kubor by-election.

Wan Rosdi is the Tumpat PAS secretary and Pengkalan Kubor constituency supervisor.

The seat fell vacant following the death of three-term Barisan assemblyman Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar on Aug 20. Nomination is Sept 13 with polling on Sept 25.

PAS contested the state seat in 2004, but lost. PKR did not fare any better, losing it in the 2008 and 2013 general elections.
