Magic man Blaine to hit KL streets

KUALA LUMPUR: It is not surprising that even in the midst of preparing for his show here, illusionist David Blaine would want to take to the streets – street magic is his first love.

The 41-year-old American, who will put on his first live show at Stadium Negara at 9pm tomorrow, is set to astound unsuspecting folk with his unique brand of street magic somewhere in the city today.

“I will be going out and doing random things to people when they are not expecting it,” Blaine said at a press conference here where he was accorded the BrandLaureate Brand Personality Award.

Having initially achieved fame in 1997 with his television show Street Magic, Blaine went on to amaze the world with his death-defying endurance performances.

The David Blaine ‘Real Or Magic’ Asia Tour 2014 will see the star taking a new approach in showcasing his magic.

“This is the first time ever that I’m putting both magic and death-defying acts together. You will see me holding my breath underwater, drinking 3.5 litres of water, possibly putting an ice pick through my hand. Anything can happen,” he said

The grand finale of the show, meanwhile, is touted to be an impressive death-defying stunt.

Organised by LOL Events and Livescape Asia, the show is supported by Malaysia Major Events, a division of Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) under the Tourism and Culture Ministry.

Tickets, priced from RM138 to RM518, are available at www.ticketpro.com.my. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/livescapeasia.
