SINGAPORE: The Star Media Group bagged three prizes at The Spark Awards for Media Excellence here.
It won gold for the Best Subscription Strategy category for its Subscribers-get-Subcribers Direct Mailer submission.
The Group also won silver for the Best Website by a Media Owner category for its submission on the launch of the revamped number one news portal, and bronze for the Best Corporate Branding by a Media Owner category for its Client Testimonial campaign submission.
Head of Products (Digital) Serm Teck Choon described the win as a great recognition to the team effort of the various departments.
“Being the number one English news portal in Malaysia, The Star Online receives an average of four million unique visitors and 40 million page views monthly.
“These figures reflect the popularity of the publication among readers,” he said during the awards ceremony held at the Westin Hotel here on Thursday night.
Group Marketing-CRM assistant manager Koh Luke Yeh, who accepted the Best Subscription Strategy award, said that the Subcriber-get-Subcriber campaign received good response.
“We received many positive feedback from readers who subscribed to The Star bundle package and this is why we came up with the campaign,” she added.
Advertising sales and business development senior manager Sara Chacko, said that the campaign was conducted to showcase how print advertising campaigns can help clients achieve higher awareness for their brands.
“The campaign also promotes product sales for clients and helps them achieve their sales and marketing plans, as many of these clients are our loyal customers, who use The Star as a primary medium to advertise,” she said.
The Spark Awards, organised by Marketing Magazine, saw hundreds of submission from various media companies across the region for 26 categories, covering media solutions, products and services.
