PADANG: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor opened an exhibition at the West Sumatera Handicraft Promotion Centre during her visit to the Indonesian province.
Accompanied by West Sumatera Governor Irwan Prayitno, the wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak spent almost an hour touring the centre yesterday to view the unique handicraft and Minang culture.
She was also given a briefing on the local embroidery, songket and batik products.
Among the product highlights at the two-day exhibition was songket made from gold thread using non-mechanical weaving methods.
Also present were Tunku Ampuan Najihah Tunku Besar Burhanuddin, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek and 200 entrepreneurs from Malaysia and Indonesia.
Rosmah arrived here yesterday for a three-day official visit at Irwan’s invitation. —Bernama
