PORT KLANG: The ashes of Karamjit Singh Karnail, who was on board Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17, have been strewn at the sea near the Pulau Ketam jetty here.
About 20 people, including his sons, Amarpal Singh, 22, and Melvinderjit Singh, 21, performed the last rites at about 11.40am yesterday.
Karamjit’s brother, Dr Rajindar Singh, thanked the Government for the “top class” service in bringing Karamjit’s remains home.
“The Government, military and police have all done a good job in bringing my brother back,” he told reporters.
Earlier, the family performed a small prayer at Nirvana Memorial Park where Karamjit was cremated.
Karamjit, an ExxonMobil employee, was among the 20 victims of MH17 that were brought back to the country on Friday.
He was 54 years old when he died.
The aircraft, bound for Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam, was shot down in eastern Ukraine.
