Selangor MB crisis: Drop in support for Pakatan certain if snap polls called, says Rajiv

PETALING JAYA: There will be a dip in support for Pakatan Rakyat if snap polls are called in Selangor, says DAP’s Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran (pic).

“In all fairness, there will be some dent. The votes will drop.

“Tomorrow we will know the outcome of PAS’ meeting and we are optimistic that PAS will remain with Pakatan Rakyat,” he said Saturday at a joint press conference with Damansara Utama state assemblyman Yeo Bee Yin and Kuala Kubu Baru rep Lee Kee Hiong.

When asked which party in Pakatan Rakyat could be affected the most in the event polls are called, Rajiv said: “I think PAS will be affected if there are snap polls.”

“In the case of snap polls, we just hope Selangor folk support us. All we need is better leadership in the state,” added Yeo.

She urged embattled Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to call an emergency state assembly sitting to resolve the crisis.

“If he has the confidence of the assembly, he should do it. We are all prepared to go for it,” she said.

On Friday, Khalid said he had not ruled out the possibility of dissolving the state assembly as a means of resolving the current crisis.

However, he said decisions on dissolving the assembly and calling for snap polls could only be made after consulting with the Selangor Sultan.
