Rectify religious status in ICs, dept told

KOTA KINABALU: Errors over the religious status of non-Muslims in their identity cards must be corrected to prevent any serious consequences, says the leader of Sabah’s Catholic church.

Archbishop John Wong said the mistakes occurred usually among natives who had the word “bin” or “binti” in their names. (The words respectively denote “the son of” or “daughter of” the biological father).
