KUALA LUMPUR: Police said they had crippled a car theft syndicate with the arrest of two local men and two Vietnamese women at a condominium in Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz here.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad said the thieves, in their 20s and 30s, were arrested at 2.30pm on Monday as they were walking towards a Volkswagen Golf that had been reported stolen.
“We managed to recover six stolen vehicles at the site and another one in Ampang later.
“The stolen cars were valued at RM1mil,” he said.
The vehicles comprised four Volkswagen Golf, a Honda City, an Audi and a Mercedes-Benz, he added.
ACP Zainuddin said the syndicate had been active for nearly two years and was responsible for a series of vehicle thefts around the Klang Valley.
“They would break into houses and take off with the owner’s vehicles.
“We believe that this syndicate has sold 11 stolen cars to date,” he added.
ACP Zainuddin also said that one of the suspects was previously arrested in Johor Baru in connection with a murder.
