KOTA TINGGI: Residents of Kampung Lukut near here are living in fear of two wild elephants which have been rampaging in the vicinity of their village over the past two days, destroying their oil palm and banana crops.
The villagers have lodged a police report.
Last Friday, the elephants destroyed oil palm trees and banana plants near the village and damaged a shed.
One of the villagers, Roslan Dahlan, found that his crop of oil palm on 2.43ha had been destroyed by the elephants over two nights.
Roslan, 49, said the villagers feared to move about at night as they were worried about being attacked by the elephants. — Bernama
