KOTA TINGGI: The people of Kampung Lukut near here are living in fear of two wild elephants.
The wild elephants, which rampaged in the vicinity of their village over the last two days, have destroyed their oil palm and banana crops, prompting villagers to lodge a police report.
Last Friday, the elephants destroyed oil palm trees and banana plants near the village and damaged a shed near a house.
One of the villagers, Roslan Dahlan, found that the elephants had destroyed his young crop of oil palm on 2.43 hectares over two nights.
Roslan, 49, said the villagers feared to move about freely at night for fear of being attacked by the elephants. - Bernama
