PETALING JAYA: Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) charity drive for this season has raised RM65,671 for the benefit of children with cerebral palsy, autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Down Syndrome, dyslexia, and slow learners, otherwise known by its acronym, CADS.
Its Hulurkan Harapan charity campaign this year saw P&G working with Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd (Mydin) to raise funds for CADS Enhancement Centre (CEC).
CEC is a non-profit organisation registered with the Registrar of Societies.
Formed in 2003 by a group of parents, academicians and individuals with interests in the development pf special needs children, CEC also provides counselling and support for the families and caregivers of children with CADS.
“We truly admire the effort made by CEC in helping these children,” said P&G communications leader for Malaysia, Zulhaimi Abdul Hamid at a handover ceremony held at CEC in Persiaran Ledang, Kuala Lumpur last Thursday.
“Hopefully, this donation will open opportunities for more special children to attend training at CEC in future,” said Zulhalmi, who added that P&G believed that the children with developmental difficulties should be given as much opportunity to develop their talents and learn living skills.
CEC president Mohammed Hanifah Mohd Salih, who accepted the contribution said “the donation will support and strengthen our cause, which is to provide a conducive and happy environment for our special children to grow.”
Funds for this year’s Hulurkan Harapan campaign were raised from the sale of P&G products from Mydin’s outlets, where five sen from every RM10 worth of purchases was donated to the fund.
