ALOR SETAR: The RMAF has commissioned two Hercules C130 aircraft to bring back remains of the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 crash victims.

Armed Forces chief Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zain said the aircraft will also carry extra RMAF personnel to assist the Special Malaysian Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) in Ukraine.

"The aircraft will be put on standby and used if needed to carry out tasks," he told reporters.

He said 30 more personnel would be added to help the rescue team which has already left for Ukraine with 10 medical personnel.

Two personnel from the Military Religious Corps were also sent to help the Islamic Development Department in managing the bodies of Muslim passengers. - Bernama
