FLIGHT MH17 did not stand much of a chance when the end came, as the missile streaked towards its target at 4,300kph – more than three times the speed of sound and more than four times the pace at which the Boeing 777 was making progress towards Kuala Lumpur.
The passenger plane, with 298 people aboard, was a sitting duck for the Russian-made surface-to-air missile, believed to have blown it out of the sky.
