PETALING JAYA: The Star Online has maintained its position as the most popular news portal in Malaysia for the month of May, according to a report from Malaysian Digital Association (MDA) and comScore Inc.

The report said The Star’s website (www.thestar.com.my) received 985,000 unique visitors, placing it first among news portals and fifth out of 30 Malaysian websites.

The Star Online also beat malaysiakini.com, which came in at seventh place with 911,000 unique visitors, themalaysianinsider.com.my at ninth place (785,000 visitors), nst.com.my at 24th place (414,000 visitors) and themalaymailonline.com at 28th place (350,000 visitors).

The website with the most unique visitors in May was Maybank2u.com.my at 2,219,000.

Mudah.my came in a close second with 2,120,000 visitors.

The reported unique visitor numbers only measured desktop-based visitors and did not include those using mobile and tablet devices.

The numbers in the report also do not include international traffic.

MDA said the report highlighted how Malaysian Internet users consumed online content, which is based on comScore’s Media Matrix.

For Malaysia, comScore Media Metrix reports are based on data from more than 150,000 people.
