Warrant of arrest for three cops

BUTTERWORTH: Two courts have is­­sued warrants for the arrests of three police personnel who did not show up in court for their cases.

At the Sessions Court here, judge Meor Sulaiman Ahmad Tarmizi allowed DPP Datuk Razali Che Ani’s application for the warrants to be issued against two policemen who did not appear at their trial over the raping of an Indonesian woman.

They are Kpl Nik Sin Mat La­­zin, 35, and Kons Remmy Anak Dara, 27.They are jointly charged with Kons Syahiran Romli, 23, who was present in court with his counsel R.S.N. Rayer yesterday.

All three were earlier ordered to enter their defence.

They had claimed trial to two counts of raping the woman, now 27, and “having carnal intercourse against the order of nature without her consent” at the Prai police station barracks here between 6.40am and 7.30am on Nov 9, 2012.

The case will be mentioned again on Aug 18.

Meanwhile, at a magistrate’s court in George Town, an arrest warrant was issued on a senior woman police officer who has been charged with intentionally releasing an alleged Casanova in her custody.

Magistrate Dianne Ningrad Nor Azahar issued the warrant for Asst Supt L. Chandkumary when she did not turn up for the continued hearing of her case yesterday.

The 57-year-old from Bedong, Kedah, is charged with intentionally releasing computer technician K.K. Prabaharan, 46, at the George Town court complex at 1.50pm last Oct 9.

Dianne Ningrad issued the warrant after DPP Siti Fatimah Talib informed the court that ASP Chand­kumary and her counsel were not in court.
