KUALA LUMPUR: Do not take the country’s peace and harmony for granted, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor reminded fellow Malaysians.
She encouraged them to be grateful for the country’s peace and prosperity, not to fight with one another, and embrace the spirit of 1Malaysia.
“Look at what is happening in countries such as Syria. If a country is not at peace, we will see people fighting and slandering each other,” she said at the presentation of Hari Raya goodies to 655 needy students, including orphans and disabled children, at an event organised by Yayasan Pendidikan Cheras (YPC) here yesterday.
Rosmah, the wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, added that the whole nation needed to play its part to maintain peace and harmony in the country.
She expressed her sadness over the situation in Gaza and prayed for the people there.
Rosmah, in her sixth year of presenting YPC goodies for underprivileged children, said she looked forward to more donations for the needy from the corporate sector and generous individuals.
“We should always do good, not just during the fasting month,” she said, commending YPC and encouraging companies to emulate the foundation.
YPC chairman Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee said each student received RM100, Hari Raya clothes, 5kg of rice, Milo health drink and dates.
