Thirst quencher: Zaidi serving the customers crowded at his stall.
ALOR SETAR: The chrysanthemum honey tea sold by a couple at the Ramadan bazaar outside Stadium Darul Aman here is drawing lots of customers.
It is a common sight to see people queuing up patiently around the stall just to buy the drink.
Zaidi Zainol Abidin, 46, who mans the stall, said the drink had become a popular stop among locals during the hot, dry month of Ramadan.
“I buy Grade A dried chrysan-themum flowers from a Chinese medicine shop. I then sort them before boiling them with honey.
“The special taste of the drink comes from the honey.
“The other ingredients can be considered my secret recipe,” said Zaidi Zainol, who works fulltime as an office helper.
Zaidi said he and his wife Tengku Noor Ohara Tengku Zainol Rashid, 43, would prepare 100 litres of chrysanthemum honey tea - equivalent to about 800 packets of drinks - to be sold at the bazaar each day.
It is sold at RM2 per packet.
Zaidi said he and his wife had to employ two workers to help at the stall to cope with the huge demand.
“This business gives us extra income for a month. The money comes in handy to feed our four children,” he said.
