PETALING JAYA: The air quality in Banting and Port Dickson recorded unhealthy levels on Tuesday morning.
At 10am, Banting recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) of 118 while Port Dickson registered 101.
Port Dickson was recording readings in the moderate range earlier in the day but passed the unhealthy mark (100) at 8am.
An API of between 51 to 100 is considered moderate, 101-200 unhealthy, 200-300 very unhealthy and 300 and above hazardous.
Other areas which were heading towards unhealthy levels as of 10am were Putrajaya (97), Shah Alam (85), Port Klang (93), Seremban (89), Nilai (99) and Bukit Rambai (84).
The API is calculated based on five major air pollutants, namely Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Ground Level Ozone (O3), Carbon Monoxide (CO) and particulate matter with a diameter below 10 micrometers (PM10).
