DAP: No legal basis for Mais, Jais to retain bibles

KUALA LUMPUR: There is no legal basis for the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) to hold on to the bibles seized from the Bible Society of Malaysia's (BSM) office, said Gobind Singh Deo.

The DAP legal adviser said on Saturday that the statements made by Mais and Jais were in "open defiance" of Attorney-General Tan Sri Gani Patail who had said that there was no case against BSM and that the seized bibles were no threat to society.
