Najib extends warm congratulations to Indian PM Modi

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has congratulated Narendra Modi for winning the Indian elections and becoming the country’s new Prime Minister.

Najib said in a Twitter message that he was looking forward to strengthening bilateral ties between both countries.

“Congrats to @narendramodi and BJP on winning the 2014 elections. Looking fwd to continuing strong Msia-India partnership under your govt,” he wrote yesterday.

Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party made history with a landslide victory which saw the Congress-led government being pushed out of power. The Congress Party conceded defeat after 10 years in power.

Modi was the opposition leader prior to the elections.
