Poor response from firms over childcare centre project

“The employers from the private sector have not been forthcoming. We want as many childcare centres to register with us so they can enjoy the incentives,” said Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim during the first “Let’s Get Together” series of informal meetings with the ministry’s stakeholders here yesterday.

Rohani said private firms would get a 10% tax rebate on the initial childcare set-up cost. However, it was previously reported that employers had said they could not sustain the subsequent maintenance of the centres because parents could not afford to pay the fees.
