KUALA LUMPUR: The Star Health Fair 2014 kicked off at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre with a massive turnout.
Event partner Great Eastern Life has one of the biggest booths in the fair, which has the theme of “Let’s Live Great!” this year. Great Eastern Life director and chief executive officer Datuk Koh Yaw Hui said it hoped to inspire visitors to the fair to live healthier and better lives.
“We launched the Live Great Programme to help customers turn their health intentions into actions so that they may be with their loved ones longer. Eating well, keeping fit as well as bonding with family are the three pillars of our exhibit,” he said at the launch of the fair here yesterday.
At the Guardian booth, which is manned by a team of pharmacists, dieticians and doctors, visitors were guided through a series of free comprehensive health screenings.
Its pharmacy practice general manager Wan Hwei Yen said the response from participants had been overwhelming.
“There are many people signing up for the health checks and we are constantly kept busy. I hope even more people will come tomorrow,” said Wan.
GNC assistant retail manager Kavitha Jeyaseelan said the response had exceeded her expectations.
“The response is very good with many people coming in and out of our booth,” she said, adding that it aimed to reach out to new customers.
“A third of all our customers today are new to GNC,” she said, describing it as a “great success”.
Nestlé consumer engagement head Lester Kaahn said he was very impressed with the exhibition.
“The turnout is great and I expect this to increase over the weekend. The attendance shows that more people are taking notice of nutrition, health and wellness,” he said.
