Govt has no plans for compulsory military service


THE Government has no plans to make a military stint among Malaysians compulsory, the Ministry of Defence said.

In a written reply to Datuk Nawawi Ahmad (BN-Langkawi), the ministry said the Government had no plans to come up with any form of legislation to make it compulsory for Malaysians, especially men, to serve in the military for at least a year.
