KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has cancelled his trip to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar due to the MH370 crisis.
“The Prime Minister has decided to postpone his official visit to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar which was scheduled to take place from today until next Wednesday,” said a government spokesman.
“The Prime Minister wishes to remain in Malaysia in order to continue overseeing the search for MH370.”
Najib has also expressed appreciation for the hard work put in by the staff of Malaysia Airlines at the Emergency Operations Centre in Sepang in the search for the missing airliner.
Najib conveyed his appreciation when he met the staff members at the MAS Flight Management Building at KL International Airport here.
Earlier, the Prime Minister attended a briefing given by MAS’ senior management. Also present was MAS Group CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya.
MAS Flight MH370 disappeared while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing early last Saturday with 239 people on board, and a massive multinational search into its seventh day today has yielded no trace of the aircraft.
