Liow: MCA welcomes ideas to strengthen racial harmony

KAJANG: The MCA welcomes feedback from the people to help strengthen harmony among multi-ethnic Malaysians. Party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the country’s political structure was race-based, and Barisan Nasional component parties played an important role in bringing the people together.

“People are concerned over the political situation in the country these days.

“Please let me know of your ideas on how to make our country a better place for all,” he said during a Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) alumni dinner here on Saturday.

Liow’s wife Datin Seri Lee Sun Loo, who graduated from UKM in 1986, was also at the dinner.

Liow said MCA – the second largest Barisan Nasional component party – must be united and strong in order to play an effective role in the country.

He said he would strive towards transforming MCA into a united and strong party.

Describing the March 23 Kajang state by-election as a big challenge for the party, he urged the voters to give MCA a chance to serve them.

MCA vice-president Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun is contesting under a Barisan ticket for the seat that fell vacant after PKR assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh resigned in January.
