IPOH: Three Mat Rempits, including two teenagers suspected of being involved in a spate of motorcycle thefts, have been arrested.
Police first nabbed the two unemployed teenagers, aged 16 and 19, who were behaving suspiciously near Taman Wing Onn on Wednesday at about 4am, said Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong.
“After noticing a police patrolling vehicle, the two, who were riding on a motorcycle, sped off.
”We managed to corner them near Kampung Tawas, about 3km away,” he said.
“After our investigation, the two brought us to a former mining pool near Persiaran Meru Raya in Jelapang where they dumped motorcycle parts,” he added.
ACP Sum said the police, with the help of the Civil Defence Department and firemen, dived into the pool to retrieve two Honda EX motorcycle frames.
ACP Sum said the police then arrested a 30-year-old labourer, believed to be the mastermind behind about nine motorcycle theft cases in Ipoh and one in Taiping.
